Pre-reading Thoughts:

I ended up being somewhat disappointed, but the first book. My expectations were a little high. But I am still hoping that this book will help to change my opinions.

Writing Thoughts:

The writing stayed pretty much the same as the previous book, but the dialogue seems less stiff and took on more life.

Plot Thoughts:

A lot more happened in this book which I am happy about. There were so many new and interesting things that occurred in this book. We were also able to see a whole lot more about the world which was nice as it added to the world building that was scarce in the first book. I liked how well the book continued after the first one. I definitely think that one should read these books straight after each other. 

Character Thoughts:

The characters felt a lot more fleshed out in this book. Not completely round but less one dimensional. Ciara was still kind of weird and just didn't seem like a great character. I really ended up missing Dorian in this book, but his relationship with Evelyn was just as weird as it was in the first book. However, it ended up being more adorable than weird and odd. 

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I thought that this was a great follow up book. The writing was a lot smoother in terms of the dialogue, the plot was more busy and just felt like it was a lot fuller and the characters were more fleshed out and less one dimensional.
