Bruno:
They stole her from me. I killed to keep her safe so that we can build a life together.
Now I'm rotting in prison. But these bars can't hold me. Not when Serena is on the other side of them. I'll tear down the walls with my bare hands, crush the skull of anyone who gets in my way until she's mine again.

Serena:
I thought our pain was behind us. How am I going to survive without him? Because I have a bad feeling that this is going to get a whole lot more dangerous very soon.

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the first book. I thought that whilst it had its problems I liked reading it. It is safe to say that I am interested in seeing how this series continues.

Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book! Just a small disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

The writing was quite similar to the previous book. If you would like to see my writing thoughts on the first book, you can find that review here. But basically, the book was really easy to get into. I felt like there was not a lot of description and every now and again the dialogue, both internal and external, seemed repetitive.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot wasn't as good as the first one. Whilst I enjoyed seeing that the two characters missed each other, it felt like that was what the entire first half of the book was all about. I missed the action and easy plot. I definitely love the suspense of the end though. It really made me want to go and read the last book straight away.

Character Thoughts:

The constant alternating perspective really put a damper on character development. Both characters seemed to have stayed the same except for one or two qualities.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I think this book suffered a little bit from the middle book syndrome. It was good, but it wasn't as good as the first one. The writing remained the same even though the dialogue did seem a little repetitive, the plot was mainly focused on the characters' relationship. I liked that, but at the same time I wanted a little more action. Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book.

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
